Longwoods Road Quilts
Posted by Denise
Members of the Longwoods Road Quilt Team met July 21 at the Sew Creative quilting shop owned by Joan Hilhorst, Mt Brydges.
The enthusiastic group received a history lesson from Mr Glen Stott about the historical events that occurred on the Longwoods Road during the War of 1812. Two quilts will honour the local women of this region during this important time in Canadian history.
The block designs of the 2 quilts will be featured as barn quilts on heritage barns from Thamesville to Delaware along the Longwoods Road.
If you are interested in getting involved in these great projects please contact us.
Quilters are needed.

Wardsville Barn Quilt Trail Tourists
Posted by Denise
Mildred Kulich, Glencoe, stopped at the home of Denise Corneil’s Sunday July 10, 2011 in search of a map and details of the Wardsville Barn Quilt Trail. Millie stated “my cousins Jean Dimmel and Pat Powell, (Oregon, USA) are here on a vacation and insisted I take them on the Wardsville Barn Quilt Tour”. The ladies had great time seeking out all the blocks.
They stopped by Denise’s house to find a map to take home with them to Oregon. Wardsville’s Barn Quilt Trail attracted visitors from England and Holland earlier this year. The Middlesex Doors Open program, September 17 and 18, will highlight Wardsville Barn Quilts. Watch for upcoming details.

Head to the Canadian quilter’s conference being held at Perth Hall at UWO in London this year until May 28, 2011. Fantastic. We’re promoting barn quilts. Who better to champion barn quilt trails than quilters. They all have seen a barn quilt in the U.S. on their travels. And they have all heard of Wardsville!
